3rd X1 update

The 3rd XI will be going into the Christmas break evenly poised with 2 wins and 2 losses. After a slow start in Round 1 against Melbourne Uni the 3rd XI has started to find some form coming into the end of the year. Rounds 2 and 3 both saw some tight finishes with Carlton managing to get over the line against Geelong during a rain effected game, which came down to the final ball. While Round 3 against Footscray saw a loss in another tight contest with the Dogs managing to chase the total in the second last over of the game. It was great to see Liam Connop take his opportunity in this match, with a highest score of 67 at the top of the order after being promoted from the 4th XI.

To round out the first part of the season before the Christmas break, the boys were able to hand Greenvale a convincing win at PP2, which included the team’s first ton for the year by our leading run scorer Jonathan Dean - who carried his bat through the innings for a fantastic 118*. As usual in the 3rd XI the bowlers continuously done their job each week, managing to take 38 of a possible 40 wickets so far in the season with Sean Morrow narrowly leading the way on 7 wickets.

4th XI update

The 4th XI have made a successful start to the 20/21 season with 3 out of 4 wins for the season. The team has already seen 17 players play in the team all of which have made a contribution to the wins. We are lucky to have some new young talent in the side who also represent Carlton in the Dowling Shield. A surprise appearance from former 4th XI captain, Mat Vine, brought energy to the team as he took his cheap wickets and hit 6s for fun down in Geelong. The introduction of returning injured veteran player James Pettitt in round 4 brought depth to the batting line up as he made 94. The team has gelled really well and are all proud to be playing cricket for Carlton.

Big shout out to Mark, Phil, Matt Mills and Mick Connop for all their support at training and on game day, it is greatly appreciated.

On behalf of the 4th XI we wish everyone a safe, happy and healthy holiday period and we look forward to more appearance in the background of Frogbox in the new year.

P.S. Mark I am still waiting for my new ball for training
